Objective

The Managing Director of Community Banking will provide overall leadership and strategic direction for Retail Distribution Channels such as the development and execution of initiatives related to the Bank's markets & locations, the integration of technology into the branch network, and the establishment of goals to achieve strong sales, branch operations, and customer call center performance. This senior leader plays a pivotal role in the overall strategic direction and leadership by overseeing the planning, directing, organizing, and leadership of community banking branch managers, operations and support team and call center. This leader will also develop sales programs and exceptional customer service to drive branch profitability, customer retention, talent development, and efficient channel delivery, leveraging technology and innovation appropriately.

Responsibilities/Duties
    Develop long-term strategic plans and initiatives to achieve business goals, including market penetration, customer acquisition, and revenue growth.
  • Lead and develop the branch and call center teams in order drive exceptional performance, achievement of goals, talent development and execution of the distribution channel plans of the Bank.
  • Conduct comprehensive market analysis to identify opportunities for expansion and growth.
  • Evaluate market presence and recommend adjustments to optimize performance and market position.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies affecting branch banking; evaluate opportunities for reinventing the branch experience.
  • Strengthen and enhance the sales culture to drive profitability and customer retention.
  • Grow and develop a diverse staff through formalized hiring and training to represent the markets in which Firstrust does business.
  • Instill a strong customer service acumen in all branch managers and call center managers; and support them in the training and development of their teams; and ensure Magic Training behaviors and concepts are embedded in service orientation.
  • Lead, drive, and manage business development for consumer and small business products including terms, conditions, pricing, and targets of sales efforts.
  • Oversee sales incentive programs for the Retail Division with clear goals to drive business and exceed company objectives.
  • Develop strategies with key stakeholders in other divisions including Business Banking, Operations, Risk, Marketing, Wealth Management, Mortgage and Commercial Banking to achieve enterprise-wide goals.
  • Own direct P&L responsibility by building and maintaining a successful budget.
  • Oversee and ensure the physical branches are held to bank standards including maintenance, design, improvements, and ongoing appearance. Identify new potential markets and locations for strategic review.
  • Demonstrate community involvement by participating in community activities, groups, and boards for networking and business development opportunities to align professional and Firstrust Branding.
  • Ensure that the bank polices, and standard operating procedures are consistently and uniformly applied by all employees.
  • Resolve staffing issues by partnering with assigned human resource business partner to ensure resolution is within established procedures and guidelines.
  • Evaluate performance on a consistent basis, providing counseling and guidance as needed; prepare formal written performance appraisals annually, recommending salary and bonuses as appropriate.
  • Assists in the development of new business for Firstrust. Is alert to expressed customer/prospect needs to suggest appropriate services. Directs customers to appropriate person to establish business relationships.
Essential Functions

Knowledge - Skills & Abilities
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree Preferred in Business Management, or Administration or Finance. Master's degree / Wharton School of Banking a plus
  • Ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of comparable experience managing a retail banking function in a commercial or community bank.
  • Ten (10) plus years of progressive leadership experience with large teams in setting vision, acting as a change agent and a big picture thinker.
  • Strong delegation and team building skills with the ability to support a team and the team's work embracing ownership, accountability, and responsibility
  • Executes with strong emotional intelligence by demonstrating critical thinking, resolving conflicting workplace issues calmly and functions as a resilient leader.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at the senior management level and across all levels of the organization; is able to work as part of this team to ensure that all decisions are made and implemented across the organization effectively.
  • Deep understanding of banking products is required. Understanding of banking processes and end-to-end knowledge of banking interlinked systems.
  • Exposure to digital business models like e-commerce, B2B, B2C marketplaces is desirable.
  • Experience with salesforce or other banking technologies
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and ability to forge strong partnerships across the Bank.
  • Extensive experience with business development
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Teams.
