Under general supervision, partners with pharmacy leadership and Epic teams supporting the analysis, design, implementation, education, and support of computer application systems utilized in the department and determines business requirements. Develops and oversees department technology-based solutions to improve the medication use process.

Qualifications

Education & Training:

  • Doctorate of Pharmacy from an accredited school required.
  • Licensed, or eligible, to practice pharmacy in the State of Maryland required. Applicants pending Maryland licensure work under direct supervision of a licensed staff pharmacist (for a period not to exceed 6 months) until licensure is obtained.
  • Completion of an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) residency in Pharmacy Informatics preferred.
  • EPIC Willow Certification preferred.
  • Additional certifications may be required upon hire.

Work Orientation & Experience:

  • Five (5) years previous hospital pharmacy experience required.
  • Two (2) years previous experience supporting pharmacy information, applications and technology in an institutional setting preferred.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of health care management, administrative and operational principles and practices, including TJC regulations, MD DHMH Pharmacy laws pertaining to use of CPOE, automated medication dispensing machines and related devices.
  • Knowledge of personal computer operations and applications, such as spreadsheet software, desktop publishing and word processing.
  • Skilled in prioritization, problem solving, organization, decision-making, time management, planning and execution of assigned projects and deliverables.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a complex team environment; collaborate with external and internal professionals and other customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to effect cost-effective decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, complete and evaluate assignments and projects of their own and others where delegation is required.
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills are necessary to work with IT, Pharmacy, clinical, upper management, administrative and other personnel as internal and external customers/stakeholders of this position.
